A little over a year ago I had the honor of photographing Shaun & Mykah's big day. Since then we've ended up becoming good friends and I love these two to death! For their 1 year anniversary Mykahlee came to me and told me she wanted to surprise Shaun with a little photo shoot. So we decided to have extra fun with it and go to Doug Aitken's Desert X (AKA that really cool Mirror House in Palm Springs you may or not have seen all over Instagram). We had a blast venturing out to the desert and having this awesome work of art, as well as some gorgeous light, to play with. Enjoy!
You guys! I got to go to the Museum of Ice Cream!!!
So my mother recently turned 60. It dawned on me a few months back that this was happening soon, and I've had a difficult time processing it. My mom has always been in good health, and anyone who knows her knows that she is SUCH A CHILD AT HEART. Anyone who knows her also knows, that she loves ice cream more than anyone you've ever met.
So when I heard about this museum, founded by 25 year-old Maryellis Bunn, I looked into it and decided I just had to take her. So my sister and I got some tickets for us and my nieces (the stinking adorable little girls in these photos) and we took my mom last week as a surprise.
She had no clue what to expect, had never even heard of it, and she absolutely loved it as we ventured into each of the brilliant rooms! The museum was EXACTLY as described in their "About" tab on their website. It's a place that makes you feel like a kid again, especially when you get to go for a swim in that glorious sprinkle pool. (It's been almost a week and my mother is STILL talking about the sprinkle pool!) I personally loved how much artistic creativity went into each room, by artists such as Abel Benton.
The staff was wonderful as well. All decked in pink, they enthusiastically welcomed us into each room, sharing bits and pieces about the room itself and the goodies that came with it! Oh, and I can't forget to mention, we got to indulge in some pretty delicious ice creams and other sweets, from some LA favorites like Salt & Straw, McConnell's, and Little Damages.
I'd love to tell you more about this fantastic place, but I'd hate to spoil too much for those who have yet to go. I don't know if any more dates or tickets will be made available in Los Angeles, but keep an eye on this museum when they're on the move and make it a goal to go! It's a must!
I had the privilege of photographing Adam & Whitney's maternity photos a couple of years ago, and now I've finally gotten the chance to meet the little guy in person! We did their first family session recently amongst some young Redwoods in Brea, CA. I absolutely adore this family. (And are they stylish or what?!)
Oh, and just a little fun fact about Whitney. She does RAVISHING work as a calligrapher. If you're ever in need of such services, find her on Instagram... @thehautepress
So as you can see in the photographs below, Chino Hills is quite ravishing in the springtime. I had to make sure to take advantage of it again this year. So the Durans and I were able to get together again for some family photos! They are seriously one of the cutest families. See for yourself as you scroll through their spring family photo session!
Matthew, Christine, and I got to make our way up to Mount Baldy a couple of months ago when we got some snow. Not only was it absolutely beautiful, but it ended up snowing on us the entire shoot! And it was amazing! (Anyone who knows me, knows how I feel about snow.) It was beyond gorgeous, and not to mention, Matthew & Christine are adorable as well! We had such a blast. I can't wait for their big day this summer!
Christian & Alex are some of the cutest parents-to-be I've seen yet. Not only is Alex totally gorgeous, but their chemistry together is undeniable. I love seeing couples who can make each other laugh so much like these two. And to top it off, their little family is going to get even cuter when their little one arrives!
So here's a fun little story... When I was 15, I started taking my interest in photography more seriously. An old friend had encouraged me that if I wanted to do it, then I should start doing it, regardless of my young age. I started taking classes. I would walk around my neighborhood and photograph things I thought looked interested, then share them on Facebook. One day, this precious couple, Branden & Evelyn, sent me a message and asked if I would do a photo shoot of them, and how much it would be. I hardly even know these people! And they wanted to give me ACTUAL money to take their photos! They were my first clients EVER. Since then, I've seen their family grow with each shoot. I even had the opportunity of taking their family photos in New York last fall. A soon as I saw their new puppy, Kylo, I knew it was time for a new family picture! They are one of the cutest families, and I'll always look forward to future shoots with them!
In early 2016, Tash went on a vacation abroad, visiting various European towns. On her stop in Copenhagen, there she met Martin. They were instantly attracted and in time fell in love, despite their long distance relationship for many months. On his last visit here, she wanted to share one of her favorite US places with him (California beaches!). For their engagement photo session, I joined them at Santa Monica Pier, and got to document their undeniable chemistry as the sun set...
In case you couldn't already tell from a great deal of my sessions, very few things in life bring me as much satisfaction as a solid golden hour peeking through the leaves, bringing forth an array of different greens. I got to do a little mini engagement session with Brandon and Andrea recently. Of course, only in Southern California will you get that summer weather and beaming sun in the middle of November. Oh, and Brandon and Andrea were also beaming...
Fun, little story! I've known this guy since I was 10 years old. We met in 5th Grade Camp! We were good friends throughout middle school, then went our separate ways after going to different schools. After years of not seeing each other, we recently ran into each other and caught up. This prompted him to schedule a mini session. It was so fun meeting his little ladies and watching him be a daddy on his shoot!
I love this family so much! I had the opportunity to shoot with them again a few weeks ago for their maternity session, getting ready for baby Mateo. They came looking so precious in their summery wardrobe and flower halos!
A couple of weeks ago I got together with Ryan, Ruthanne, and baby Emma for a mini session. Emma is expecting a little sister soon and I cannot wait to meet her!
I've known Eric for years, so naturally was I ecstatic, not only to hear of his engagement, but when he told me that he and Lilia wanted me to photograph their wedding! They had a small and quaint, lovely wedding in Orange County, California, the reception being held just minutes off of the shore in Huntington Beach. Lilia was a stunning bride, and an evidently loving one, as she made a move here all the way from Switzerland! Logically, we had to get some sunset photos on Sunset Beach. Enjoy their wedding gallery below!
While Justin & Lily were visiting from Colorado, we were able to get together for a mini session of Mia, capturing her spunky, little personality as a 1 year old!
At 3:31 pm on June 10, 2016, David & Rachel welcomed their precious baby girl into the world. One of the sweetest moments I've ever had the privilege of witnessing, was David kneeling down and whispering to Rachel, "She's perfect." The tears were indeed flowing! I'm so happy for these two. They're going to make incredible parents. And I'm so thankful that they chose me to be there to document it.
Summer vacation is upon us again! It's not too late to get those graduation photos done, or too soon to begin planning school photos for next year! Taylor claimed to be camera shy, but she couldn't fool me! She's obviously adorable in front of the camera. Here are a few favorites from her mini session up in Mount Baldy, CA.
The mini sessions really are perfect if you have kiddos. It's just the right amount of time to take them somewhere fun and pretty (such as this lovely place) and get some photos of them, well, acting like kiddos. Baby Jacob is seriously one of the easiest kids I've ever photographed! The very first photo he stood in front of me and gave me a huge grin. And as you can see here, his sisters are pretty stinkin adorable as well. Enjoy!
I've known Rachel since I was a little girl, and I can honestly say she is one of the sweetest, most genuine women you could ever meet. She's been an amazing close friend to my sister for as long as I can remember. I'm so happy for David and Rachel and what they have to come. I know they're going to be incredible parents. Enjoy a few favorites from their golden hour maternity session in Chino Hills, CA, where just a few weeks out of the year we are graced with these lush, green, rolling hills.
It's not everyday you get to be the photographer at your sister's wedding! It was definitely a crazy day, but it was a privilege I was happy to be apart of, in documenting this special day. Jason and Sarah had a small wedding with their close friends and family, personalized to what creates them as a couple. We enjoyed a cocktail and dinner hour serenaded with music by the Beatles and some of their other favorite old time bands. Their love for the Beatles, of course, had to be incorporated into a few of these photos. Enjoy!
I recently had the pleasure of meeting with Hugo and Erika in the depths of Mount Baldy for their engagement session. They were one of the most giggly couples I have ever photographed! Between their easy going, loving nature, and the gorgeous nature around us, I was very happy with the results of this engagement shoot. I cannot wait to join them again to document their big day!
