November has certainly been the most popular month for family sessions, and I’m not complaining! In recent years I’m coming to really appreciate family sessions more and more. Being an auntie myself, I’m realizing how valuable and precious these photos really are, since these ages and stages flash right before your eyes and never come back. I’m going to try to be better about blogging (keyword: “try”) so I can share some of these recent, adorable family seshes with you. So we’ll start with the Niehaus family and their handsome, little guy!
I really hope you like dimples, because you're about to see a whole bunch of 'em in this blog post! Every year I do a shoot with these 3 precious little siblings (aka my nieces and nephew.) I frequently drive through the farms of Ontario, and driving by the cornfields I realized I just had to take them here for this summer's shoot! They had such a blast! I know I'm biased, but I can't get enough of these photos (probably because I can't get enough of these kids.) I hope you enjoy these cuties and some golden hour goodness as much as I have!
So some of you may have seen the birth photos I shared in my last blog post of this precious, little family. Of course after little Avery entered the world, we had to capture some newborn photos of her in the comforts of this place she now knows to be her home. Mikey and Chenelle were so kind as to invite me over for this cozy, intimate little session with the three of them. I loved this SO MUCH.
We made use of most of their home for this session, which made it nice and comfortable for little Avery. (And may I also add, how stinkin gorgeous is their home?) It was also so beautiful to observe Mikey and Chenelle in the midst of photographing, as well as in between shots (newborn sessions entail a lot of diaper changes and feeding breaks!) Despite being new parents, they were both so attentive and tender with Avery. It's so evident how much they love her, as well as each other, as they continued to be so considerate to one another whilst caring for their little one's needs. This session was one I will never forget, and I cannot wait to photograph this little fam again in the future.
Holy cow. I love photographing births SO MUCH. Words can't even describe how ecstatic I was when Mikey and Chenelle contacted me about photographing the birth of their first little one.
I was getting antsy in the days and weeks surrounding her due date, especially since she ended up having this little nugget over a week late! But the night finally came when I got the call to head on over to the hospital. Avery was born on April 22nd at 1:12am. A beautiful, perfect baby girl. And her parents, my goodness. Mikey was so attentive and tender to Chenelle. They clearly both fell in love with this baby girl the moment they laid eyes on her. And the way they drew together as a couple was so beautiful and admirable to watch. Geeze. I still can't get over it. I hope you enjoy taking a look through their photos, and experience a glimpse of what I was able to in being there to witness it.
By the way, I've been shooting portraits for nearly 9 years now, weddings for 8, and now I've shot my fourth birth. Let me tell you, there is no occasion that is more REAL and RAW and FULL OF LOVE as this. I can honestly say, in my years of photography, these occasions are truly the most awe-inspiring thing I've been able to be apart of. If you're expecting, and this is something you've been going back and forth on, or maybe hadn't even realized was an option, please send me a contact form and we can talk about the idea some more!
I don't do graduation photos often, but I was recently asked to do some for this gorgeous girl. This shoot was seriously such a blast! Esree wanted to have her grad photos taken in the Arts District of Downtown LA where she visits frequently with her family. It was such a unique take on graduation photos! And her wardrobe choice was to die for! Oh, and if you couldn't tell on your own, Esree is a natural in front of the camera! I can't wait to get her in front of the camera again one of these days!
My 2 favorites thing about this engagement session: 1) Golden Hour 2) The way Brian looked at Kali. I couldn't help but swoon when working on these photos! Due to Kali having to leave town, they ended up setting up this session on VERY short notice. I'm so so happy we were able to make it work! I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!

Any who know me, know how much I love the great PNW! This August I took a trip up to Oregon, visiting the coast in Yachats, OR for the total solar eclipse many were raving about, as well as Portland, OR.
Now, first off, the total solar eclipse. HOLY COW. Literally the most awe-inspiring thing I have ever seen. I knew it would be cool, and I was intrigued to see it, but I never imagined it would be as incredible as it was! I now understand why people become "Eclipse Chasers." As happy as I am that I was able to grab a few shots of it, no photo I've seen yet even comes close to the real thing. But here are a couple favorites for you to check out, in case you didn't get to see the real thing yourself!
My favorite thing about the PNW is how GREEN it is. I cannot get enough of it! I had visited Portland for a job doing some headshots. While there, of course I had to visit the famous Multnomah Falls. This place graces my Instagram feed frequently, as I imagine it does yours as well! Again, so much more gorgeous in person than I imagined! If you ever have the opportunity to visit Portland, be sure to make it out to Multnomah! Not only is it itself absolutely breathtaking, but the drive there alongside the Columbia River Gorge isn't so shabby either!
So here are a few favorite shots from this amazing trip. I hope you enjoy them as much I did! Prints are available for purchase as well. If you'd love to have one of your own, send me a contact form and we'll make it happen!
Well I've been slacking off MAJORLY on my blog posts. I was able to document some special moments between these two this summer, from their sweet, intimate engagement session, to their big day. Here are a few favorites from their engagement shoot at a local olive house. Wedding blog post soon to come!
A little over a year ago I had the honor of photographing Shaun & Mykah's big day. Since then we've ended up becoming good friends and I love these two to death! For their 1 year anniversary Mykahlee came to me and told me she wanted to surprise Shaun with a little photo shoot. So we decided to have extra fun with it and go to Doug Aitken's Desert X (AKA that really cool Mirror House in Palm Springs you may or not have seen all over Instagram). We had a blast venturing out to the desert and having this awesome work of art, as well as some gorgeous light, to play with. Enjoy!
You guys! I got to go to the Museum of Ice Cream!!!
So my mother recently turned 60. It dawned on me a few months back that this was happening soon, and I've had a difficult time processing it. My mom has always been in good health, and anyone who knows her knows that she is SUCH A CHILD AT HEART. Anyone who knows her also knows, that she loves ice cream more than anyone you've ever met.
So when I heard about this museum, founded by 25 year-old Maryellis Bunn, I looked into it and decided I just had to take her. So my sister and I got some tickets for us and my nieces (the stinking adorable little girls in these photos) and we took my mom last week as a surprise.
She had no clue what to expect, had never even heard of it, and she absolutely loved it as we ventured into each of the brilliant rooms! The museum was EXACTLY as described in their "About" tab on their website. It's a place that makes you feel like a kid again, especially when you get to go for a swim in that glorious sprinkle pool. (It's been almost a week and my mother is STILL talking about the sprinkle pool!) I personally loved how much artistic creativity went into each room, by artists such as Abel Benton.
The staff was wonderful as well. All decked in pink, they enthusiastically welcomed us into each room, sharing bits and pieces about the room itself and the goodies that came with it! Oh, and I can't forget to mention, we got to indulge in some pretty delicious ice creams and other sweets, from some LA favorites like Salt & Straw, McConnell's, and Little Damages.
I'd love to tell you more about this fantastic place, but I'd hate to spoil too much for those who have yet to go. I don't know if any more dates or tickets will be made available in Los Angeles, but keep an eye on this museum when they're on the move and make it a goal to go! It's a must!
I had the privilege of photographing Adam & Whitney's maternity photos a couple of years ago, and now I've finally gotten the chance to meet the little guy in person! We did their first family session recently amongst some young Redwoods in Brea, CA. I absolutely adore this family. (And are they stylish or what?!)
Oh, and just a little fun fact about Whitney. She does RAVISHING work as a calligrapher. If you're ever in need of such services, find her on Instagram... @thehautepress
So as you can see in the photographs below, Chino Hills is quite ravishing in the springtime. I had to make sure to take advantage of it again this year. So the Durans and I were able to get together again for some family photos! They are seriously one of the cutest families. See for yourself as you scroll through their spring family photo session!
Matthew, Christine, and I got to make our way up to Mount Baldy a couple of months ago when we got some snow. Not only was it absolutely beautiful, but it ended up snowing on us the entire shoot! And it was amazing! (Anyone who knows me, knows how I feel about snow.) It was beyond gorgeous, and not to mention, Matthew & Christine are adorable as well! We had such a blast. I can't wait for their big day this summer!
Christian & Alex are some of the cutest parents-to-be I've seen yet. Not only is Alex totally gorgeous, but their chemistry together is undeniable. I love seeing couples who can make each other laugh so much like these two. And to top it off, their little family is going to get even cuter when their little one arrives!
So here's a fun little story... When I was 15, I started taking my interest in photography more seriously. An old friend had encouraged me that if I wanted to do it, then I should start doing it, regardless of my young age. I started taking classes. I would walk around my neighborhood and photograph things I thought looked interested, then share them on Facebook. One day, this precious couple, Branden & Evelyn, sent me a message and asked if I would do a photo shoot of them, and how much it would be. I hardly even know these people! And they wanted to give me ACTUAL money to take their photos! They were my first clients EVER. Since then, I've seen their family grow with each shoot. I even had the opportunity of taking their family photos in New York last fall. A soon as I saw their new puppy, Kylo, I knew it was time for a new family picture! They are one of the cutest families, and I'll always look forward to future shoots with them!
In early 2016, Tash went on a vacation abroad, visiting various European towns. On her stop in Copenhagen, there she met Martin. They were instantly attracted and in time fell in love, despite their long distance relationship for many months. On his last visit here, she wanted to share one of her favorite US places with him (California beaches!). For their engagement photo session, I joined them at Santa Monica Pier, and got to document their undeniable chemistry as the sun set...
In case you couldn't already tell from a great deal of my sessions, very few things in life bring me as much satisfaction as a solid golden hour peeking through the leaves, bringing forth an array of different greens. I got to do a little mini engagement session with Brandon and Andrea recently. Of course, only in Southern California will you get that summer weather and beaming sun in the middle of November. Oh, and Brandon and Andrea were also beaming...
Fun, little story! I've known this guy since I was 10 years old. We met in 5th Grade Camp! We were good friends throughout middle school, then went our separate ways after going to different schools. After years of not seeing each other, we recently ran into each other and caught up. This prompted him to schedule a mini session. It was so fun meeting his little ladies and watching him be a daddy on his shoot!
I love this family so much! I had the opportunity to shoot with them again a few weeks ago for their maternity session, getting ready for baby Mateo. They came looking so precious in their summery wardrobe and flower halos!
A couple of weeks ago I got together with Ryan, Ruthanne, and baby Emma for a mini session. Emma is expecting a little sister soon and I cannot wait to meet her!
